Our Programs

Little Sprouts (CTE Early Childhood Education Lab)

This unique program pairs preschoolers with high school Early Childhood Education students in a nurturing, interactive environment. It is designed to spark a lifelong love of learning through exploration and hands-on "farm experiences".

  • Capacity: Approximately 16 students.
  • Requirement: Children must be fully potty trained.
  • Admission: Spots are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority for IWCS employees.
  • Visit Website: Little Sprouts Website.

The Learning Center (Virginia Preschool Initiative - VPI)

The Learning Center provides a high-quality, full-day preschool experience at no cost to families who meet specific eligibility criteria. It focuses on children who may be exposed to factors that could impact school success.

  • Eligibility: Based on student needs (e.g., poverty level, residency, or other risk factors).
  • Process: Includes an application, supporting documents, and an interview.
  • Admission: This is not first-come, first-served; slots are filled based on eligibility requirements.
  • Visit Website: VPI Program Website.

Isle Grow (Reverse Inclusion)

Isle Grow places typically-developing "peer models" into Early Childhood Special Education classrooms. These students serve as social and communication role models while engaging in play-based learning that supports Virginia's developmental standards.

  • Peer Models: Must be strong social and language models and independently handle feeding/toileting.
  • Inclusions: Tuition includes before-care and after-care (7:30 am – 5:00 pm), field trips, and curricular supports.
  • Screening: Parents will be contacted for a child screening and parent interview following the application window.
  • Visit Website: Isle Grow Website.
